Dr Peter Lee Ka-kit, GBS, JP (born 1963), is a businessman and philanthropist from Hong Kong. He is Chairman of Henderson Land, The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited and Towngas Smart Energy Company Limited, as well as Vice Chairman of Henderson Investment Limited. He is currently a Member of the Standing Committee of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Vice Chairman of the 13th Executive Committee for the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce.

Early life[edit]

Born in Hong Kong in 1963, with family roots in Shunde, Guangdong, China. He was admitted to St. Paul's Primary School in 1969.

He graduated from the Computer Science Department of the University of Keele in 1977.

In 1985, He joined Henderson Land as Executive Director, focusing on its mainland China business.

Environmental Stewardship[edit]

In addition to helming the mainland China business of Henderson Land, Lee has a passion for environmental innovation and creating a better world for future generations. In 2010, he founded Full Vision Capital, an investment vehicle dedicated to green-economy ventures to steer humanity towards a greener and more sustainable future. In 2021, he launched the TERA-Award Smart Energy Innovation Competition (TERA-Award) to advance the development of a green economy by developing technologies and solutions with the potential to transform the energy industry.

Philanthropy[edit]

Lee has given support to a range of philanthropic endeavours and charities, including:

  • He founded the Care For Life Foundation in 2017 to provide financial assistance and medical care to orphans and impoverished children born with defects and disabilities.
  • He founded the Centum Charitas Foundation in 2008 to bring together second and third generation members of Hong Kong’s prominent entrepreneurial families to support philanthropic causes.
  • He joined the Ai You Foundation, a children’s welfare charity, in 2009 and currently serves as Vice Director.
  • He launched Home Market, a chain of not-for-profit convenience stores that sells discounted food and daily necessities to underprivileged households in Hong Kong, in 2012.
  • He established the privately-funded Henderson Development Anti-Epidemic Fund in 2020 with his brother Dr Martin Lee Ka-shing to support the fight against COVID-19 in Hong Kong and mainland China.
