Avci moves to Besiktas from Basaksehir
Turkish football giants Besiktas have hired Abdullah Avci as their new manager. Avci left his previous club, Istanbul Basaksehir, and signed a three-year deal that will earn him €1.8m per season. He replaces Senol Gunes, who left the Besiktas helm after four seasons in charge to take charge of the Turkish national team. Avci spent the past five seasons with Istanbul Basaksehir during which he led the team to qualification for the Europa League group stages as well as turn them into serious domestic title contenders. During the 2018/19 season, Basaksehir narrowly missed out on the lague title under his guidance, only to be beaten by the eventual champions Galatasaray in the penultimate match of the season.
Buruk appointed Basaksehir manager
Okan Buruk has been appointed manager of Basaksehir, replacing Abdullah Avci. The 45-year-old manager is highly rated in Turkey after leading Akhisar to their first Turkish Cup trophy back in 2018. Buruk also impressed at Rizespor last season guiding the Black Sea based side to a 11th place finish. Buruk has signed a two-year deal with Basaksehir, who finished last season as runners-up,just two points behind the champions Galatasaray. Meanwhile, Rizespor have announced Ismail Kartal as their new coach. Kartal has inked a one-year contract. This page is introduction to the 2019/2020 Turkish Super League season. New season, new coaches
After parting ways with recently promoted Genclerbirligi, Ibrahim Uzulmez has been named the new coach of Kasimpasa. He replaces Mustafa Denizli, who left the team after a disastrous second half of the 2018/19 season. Uzulmez has made a name for himself for getting teams promoted to the Turkish top flight. Having guided Rizespor to promotion from the second tier during the 2017/18 season, he managed to repeat the feat with Genclerbirligi last term. Meanwhile, Mustafa Kaplan has been announced as Genclebirligi's new coach. Kaplan has been given a one-year contract with the newly promoted club. He arrived from Ankaragucu, who are searching for a new man to take charge of the first team affairs.
Yeni Malatyaspor announced Sergen Yalcin as their new coach. Yalcin, who parted ways with league rivals Alanyaspor at the end of last season, has agreed a two-year contract. The 46-year-old Yalcin replaces Erol Bulut, who left the club in the opposite direction for Alanyaspor after helping Malatyaspor to fifth, behind Trabzonspor, in the 2018/19 season.
Kasimpasa have a history of parting ways with managers in unconventional circumstances and they again have agreed a deal with their former coach Kemal Ozdes. In January 2018, Ozdes resigned following a 2-1 defeat to Besiktas but four days later, the club changed their mind and reinstated Ozdes, announcing him as their "new manager". Ozdes lasted another nine months in his job and then, having started the 2018-19 campaign with 12 points from seven games, was sacked again.
Sivasspor announced the appointment of Riza Calimbay as their new manager this summer. Calimbay, who was unemployed since being sacked by Konyaspor in November 2018, returns to Sivasspor for the second time as a manager. His first stint was from October 2010 until June 2013, which was his lengthiest employment as a football manager.
Newly promoted Gazisehir Gaziantep have reached an agreement with Marius Sumudica to become the club's new manager. The Romanian coach's last job in Turkey was with Kayserispor during the 2017/18 season before moving on to Saudi Arabia outfit El Shabab.
