  • Jonny May, Courtney Lawes, George Ford and Owen Farrell scored tries
  • May was particularly impressive, while Farrell racked up 19 points for hosts

Tries from Jonny May, Courtney Lawes, George Ford and Owen Farrell helped land the win for the jubilant home side.

ENGLAND

EDDIE JONES 7

He loves beating South Africa and has ended England's 10-year hoodoo. Selection of Daly was spot on. He will want more despite the margin of victory though.

MIKE BROWN 7

His desire created Lawes' try. Good under the high-bombs and one key turnover when England backpeddled in the first half.

MARLAND YARDE 5

Looked fretful in defence and attack. In wet conditions his poor handling was exposed. Could not find the ball in the second half.

JONNY MAY 8

His pace is a real asset. Not many would have had to gas to finish his try, and his hounding work provided Lawes' score.

ELLIOT DALY 7

Brilliant dummy line for May's score and a superb left-foot kicking to add to jinking runs. After this showing he is the man in possession.

OWEN FARRELL 7.5

One missed penalty will annoy him immensely but it was a fine all-round performance. Nineteen points including a try.

GEORGE FORD 7

Poor start but grew into the game well, by the end he was pulling the Boks around with deft kicks to the corner.

BEN YOUNGS 8

Two superb dummy-and-go moves to fool du Toit twice around the fringes. Found forward runners well too.

MAKO VUNIPOLA 6.5

Scrummage did not look too solid but made some strong carries. Not quite the all-star showing we have seen for Saracens this year.

DYLAN HARTLEY 6.5

Fifty-six minutes back in white having had precious little rugby for Northampton. Hit 13 out of 13 lineouts.

DAN COLE 6

Could not find dominance against a beefed-up Springbok pack. Gave away a couple of penalties.

JOE LAUNCHBURY 7.5

Any team in world rugby would miss Maro Itoje – but what a replacement Launchbury is. Works so hard and can offload nicely too.

COURTNEY LAWES 7.5

Strong support line to grab his first Test try on his 50th cap. Will go on to take at least 30 more appearances at this rate.

CHRIS ROBSHAW 6.5

Tireless tackling but handling let him down on a couple of occasions. Does not quite have the ball skills he used to.

TOM WOOD 7

Not just a workhorse, Wood provided deft touches with ball in hand too. Back from international wilderness.

BILLY VUNIPOLA 7.5

As usual, he made the most carries of anyone on the pitch. Grown immensely under Eddie Jones. A true star.
