This article is more than 7 years old.

I was hoping a fabulous hotel would fill the long dormant space on one of the most popular spots in Beverly Hills. When I heard that the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills was coming to town, it was a moment any hotel lover would celebrate. First class and elegant, this new Waldorf Astoria will be an art deco inspired 12-story, 170-room hotel, and the brand's first property on the West Coast. Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills will feature unobstructed views from every room, exclusive dining from the acclaimed Michelin-star chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, and a luxurious 5,000 square foot Spa by La Prairie.

The new hotel is located at the corner of Wilshire and Santa Monica Boulevards and adjacent to the star-studded Beverly Hilton (home to the Golden Globe Awards). The exterior design of the hotel is a collaboration between Pierre-Yves Rochon, Inc., Perkins+Will and Gensler. The art deco design by Rochon is inspired by the glamour of Hollywood and the history of Moderne style. With a heavy use of white stone and bronze as well as Lalique installations, the design is a tribute to the Golden Age of Hollywood. Hand-painted murals of California landscapes will be incorporated into the triple-height lobby reception.

The 51 suites will include oversized balconies and lanais, and the third level Celebrity Villa Suites will include private patios and gardens for the ultimate in privacy. The Presidential Penthouse Suite will be the ultimate choice for high flyers, the Noir Saint Laurent Marble floored unit will feature 4,674 square feet of luxury, including a 1,459 private spa terrace. A personal concierge will also be dedicated to each guest on arrival to handle all special requests. The rooftop pool deck will only be available to hotel guests and is the largest of its kind in the area.

One of the most exciting additions to Beverly Hills will be dining by Michelin-star chef Jean-Georges in the hotel's main restaurant as well as in the rooftop bar and grill. The expansive and decadent new La Prairie Spa will feature six private treatment rooms, and will also include high-end treatments including the famed brand's Skin Caviar.

The addition of Waldorf Astoria Residences will also be another high-profile draw for buyers including the services of the hotel with their True Waldorf Service offering help with errands, party planning and late night dining options at all hours. The Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills is planning for a April, 2017 opening. Count me in!
