Free MIDI Tab Samples...

To hear a MIDI sample of any selection in the following listings, click on the order number shown at the left of the selection. Most of the samples include guitar and bass accompaniment so that you may hear the arrangements in their usual context. The samples usually consist of the first 8 to 20 measures, depending on tab length, but are occasionally taken from other sections of the tabs that are more representative of song identity.

Song Descriptions and Histories...

If you've visited us before, you may have noticed that most of the listings now include additional info in the song descriptions. The reason for its inclusion is that I believe on some level, knowing as much as possible about a song's origin and history in terms of when it was written and/or recorded, and by whom, helps us perform it better. Of course, maybe it's just a story I tell myself, and in reality it doesn't help much at all...

TENNESSEE WALTZ
A Duet for Guitar and Mandolin

This arrangement is designed for mandolin and flat pick guitar players to play as a duet. Mandolinists get to play the verse and chorus melodies at basic level in lower octave, verse and chorus melodies at intermediate level in upper octave, and verse and chorus harmony sections designed to harmonize with the flat pick guitar melodies at basic level. Guitarists on the other hand, also get to play verses and choruses in two octaves, plus verse and chorus harmony designed to harmonize with the mandolin melodies.

In the event you don't have a guitarist handy, it's not necessary to purchase the two arrangements together.
