Gas prices today: Where to find the cheapest fuel across the country

Gas prices are up across the country, at their highest point since April, with no sign of slowing down.

As the 2024 presidential election slowly comes clearer into view, the economy will be on the minds of most, if not all, voters. The price at the pumps is one of the most direct and day-to-day pieces of evidence as to how the economy is faring.

The national average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas on Wednesday is $3.687, up from $3.636 on Tuesday and $3.569 a week ago, according to AAA.

Maryland

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Maryland is $3.684, up from $3.643 on Tuesday. One week ago, it was significantly lower at $3.562.

Virginia

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Virginia is $3.498, below the national average. On Tuesday, the price was $3.455, and this time last week, it was $3.416.

Washington, D.C.

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Washington, D.C., is $3.820, up from $3.799 on Tuesday. Last week, it was $3.692.

California

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in California is significantly above the national average at $4.920. On Tuesday, the price was $4.897, and one week ago, it was $4.898.

New York

In New York, the average price is $3.748, up from $3.719 on Tuesday. Last week, it was $3.675.

The average price in Texas is rising quickly but still sits below the national average at $3.367. On Tuesday, the price was $3.314, and last week, it was $3.175.
