The energy crisis leaves pedestrians and cyclists on the Amper in Grafrath groping in the dark - or rather in semi-darkness.
The municipal council has decided to postpone the lighting of the path between Ampersteg and the B471 bridge until next year.
Grafrath - "In view of the energy crisis, we should postpone the lighting to 2023," said Arthur Mosandl (Greens).
It is bad to sell in public that calls for saving energy are made, but the municipality then installs new lamps.
A view shared by the rest of the panel.

A total of six lamps would be provided, which, according to an offer from Stadtwerke Fürstenfeldbruck, would cost the community a good 16,000 euros.
The lamps would be controlled by motion sensors.
They would be dimmed when no one is on the way.
According to Mayor Markus Kennerknecht (independent), switching the system on and off completely is not recommended for liability reasons.

By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular
FFB newsletter.)
The dimming feature is a response to an earlier debate in Council where the lamps were controversial, among other things because of the threat of light pollution.
In addition, the path is obvious, partly even in the FFH protection area and is not overgrown.
On bright nights, visibility is good there anyway, according to the arguments at the earlier meeting.
Torn back and forth
Kennerknecht is torn.
On the one hand, he advocates installing the lighting for liability reasons.
Because since the municipality bought the path, it is also subject to the duty to ensure traffic safety.
On the other hand, he also understands the counter-arguments.
And: "It worked well for many years without lighting."
Without light, however, it should be considered whether the path can still be used as a footpath and cycle path due to the question of liability, or whether it would be better to designate a dirt road.
But then the signage would have to be changed accordingly - not easy, since the section is also part of the Ammer-Amper cycle path.
Council members now have a good year to reconsider the matter.
