Katy Perry hops on the corset trend – we guess that’s what we’re calling them – and we find ourselves a little torn over an outfit we don’t like all that much.
We’ll give it this: Somehow, it manages to be both minimalist and overdesigned at the same time. You’ve gotta respect that. We’re reminded of Miley Cyrus’s Schiaparelli dinner-plate blouse on Saturday Night Live this past week. It had a similar black corset-like element (which we dubbed a “stomach thing”) over a white blouse.
Anyway, we don’t like this element at all. Even calling it a corset feels like we’re being too generous. It’s a bit of a shame, because if you take that one element away, we’d probably love the look, split pants and all. We’re surprised by how much we like her hair here, since this style doesn’t normally suit her. But the earrings are fun and except for that one glaring element that we hate, this could have been a really well-styled look.
